The Greek Ambassador, Nikolaos Papageorgiou, honored the Media Shorouk team led by Dr. Sohair Saleh Ibrahim, Dean of the International Higher Institute of Media at El Shorouk Academy, during the screening of the film “Patrida” at the Greek Cultural Center in Cairo. “Patrida” is one of the third-year students’ graduation projects from the Radio Department, supervised by Dr. Rana Ehab, media professional Dr. Heba Hamza, and teaching assistant Basant Mohamed in the Radio and Television Department. The film carries a Greek title meaning “Homeland” and explores the connection of several Greek citizens to Egypt as a second homeland, highlighting their human experiences and memories linked to Egyptian society. The event also featured the screening of several other documentary films, followed by a discussion session moderated by film critic Essam Zakaria, with notable attendance from those interested in cultural and artistic affairs. The recognition came in appreciation of the film’s excellence and the team’s role in supporting student creativity and encouraging outstanding graduation projects, especially after the film’s participation in the “Greeks Through Egyptian Eyes” festival, organized by the Greek Cultural Center in cooperation with the Hathor Association for Culture and Arts. The Dean of the Institute affirmed that this honor reflects the importance of cultural cooperation between Egypt and Greece and supports the institute’s direction toward enhancing student participation in international events, thereby enriching their experience and developing their creative skills. She added that the film highlighted the feelings of love and belonging that Greeks hold toward Egypt, emphasizing that their lives have always been divided between Egypt and Greece, with nostalgia continuously drawing them back to Egypt.
