On the Stage of El Shorouk Academy Media Institute: “Shababik” Performance Discusses Inheritance Conflicts Through a Contemporary Theatrical Vision
El Shorouk Academy will present the theatrical performance “Shababik” on Sunday and Monday, May 10 and 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. on the stage of the International Higher Institute of Media, as part of the activities of the academy’s theatrical troupe. The performance is written and directed by theater director Mohab Reda and is based on a text inspired by the work “Al-Mahzala Al-Ardiyya” by renowned Egyptian writer Youssef Idris. The play addresses the issue of inheritance and the family conflicts that emerge following the death of a father or head of household, while highlighting the importance of preserving family bonds in the face of material disputes. Mohab Reda stated that the production is part of an artistic project aimed at discovering and developing young talents within the academy by training students in theatrical performance and the creation of integrated stage productions that combine concept and directorial vision. He added that the academy’s theater troupe participates annually in the competition organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, noting that the troupe has won more than 60 awards over the past years at the level of Egyptian universities and institutes, including first-place awards in acting, directing, and stage décor. He further explained that a number of the troupe’s graduates are currently working in the fields of acting, directing, editing, and music production within the artistic industry, emphasizing that the primary objective of this experience is to prepare a theatrical generation capable of creativity and professional competition.
